Get Outdoors
September 24, 2007
Here in the Pittsburgh region, there are just endless amounts of activities for you and your family to do outdoors. And with the temperature dropping outside, the fall is a perfect time of year to get active outdoors.
In fact, Shape Magazine rated Pittsburgh as one of the best outdoor enthusiast cities in the country.

Plugged In: Get Active Outdoors
I absolutely love this site! You can find activities hosted by Venture Outdoors, plus lists of activities from other outdoor organizations in and around the Pittsburgh Region.
Activity categories include: biking, hiking, rock climbing, water sports, backpacking, camping, caving and running.
What I like about Venture Outdoors is that the listed activities include a detailed description and most of the activities are with an experienced guide.
Plus make sure to sign up for Venture Outdoor’s free bi-weekly newsletter so you know what activities are coming up.
Venture Outdoors also runs Kayak Pittsburgh. You can go kayaking downtown or at North Park seven days a week.
And through the end of October, college students who present a valid student ID can kayak for free!
iPod line.
The biggest change… the new iPod touch!
On top of storing your photos, music and videos–the iPod Touch also has built-in wireless Internet access and features the same 3.5-inch, touch-screen as the iPhone.
Another change… Video is coming to iPod Nano with a larger 2.5-inch LCD screen–available in several fresh new colors.
There are also new “classic” versions of the iPod available. They come with either 80 or 160 gigabytes. WOW!
And if that wasn’t enough, Apple also announced it will be selling personalized ringtones for its iPhone. Plus a new version of iTunes will be available via Wi-Fi!
Oh yeah, just one more thing: $200 was also slashed off the current iPhone price tag–not bad!!!
Did I mention the new partnership with Starbucks?
Basically, all you have to do is get near a Wi-Fi Starbucks and a new button will appear on your iPod that will let you know what song is playing when you walk in. From there, just tap on the special Starbucks button to buy the song—amazing!
This is all great….but, seriously, I’m still waiting for Verizon to get the iPhone! Come on already!

Apple’s Big Announcement
September 4, 2007
Could it be? A new, shiny, souped-up iPod is about to be unveiled!
Just two months after the release of the iPhone, Apple is causing another buzz…
The company is set to announce something big in less than 24 hours.
And although it’s not official yet, certain sources say Apple will be revamping their iPod line.
Bloggers are speculating that Apple will announce a new video iPod and iPod Nano Wednesday.
It’s been almost two years since an upgrade to either device was made.
According to some speculation the new video iPod will have a larger interface with a touch screen and possible built in Wi-Fi.
Both revamped devices could also run a version of Apple’s current operating system.
And if that wasn’t enough, there is also speculation that Apple will finally be ready to announce Beatles content for iTunes.
The invitation for Wednesday’s event included the phrase, “the beat goes on,” which also just happened to appeared in the Beatles’ last press release before the band broke up….hmmmmm…..
Bloggers are also writing that Apple will introduce a new ring tone service for those out there lucky enough to own an iPhone.
And still others say the announcement may just be a smaller iPhone that’s ready to hit the market.
There is just so much speculation; no one knows is for sure what CEO Steve Jobs has up his sleeve. Check out these videos on YouTube….iPod Touch?, The Possible Future of iPods?
